PHONE ADS THE CONTENT FRONTIER

Link

Following in the foot steps of Hutchinson's trail phone ads for Ford during the Ashes series, other major telecommunication giants like Telstra will begin there new phone ad campaign towards the end of this year.

Major companies Ford, Nike, CBA, Coke, NAB are all coming on board and millions of dollars have been spent according to Oliver Palmer, CEO of Tiger Spike.

Early indication have been positive and 77% of respondents are happy to view the content if it was free and comes with promotional products.

Sensis MediaSmart’s (Telstra sales network) have been trailing this advertising form further and suggest that communication need to make download plans cheaper for this to work. Whilst News Digital Media’s Rick Gleave believes that the public is ready for phone internet and it could be done by giving content away free and funded with mobile advertising

FOXTEL CHANNELS PLAYSTATION ADS

Links

Sony Entertainment will be the first company to use Foxtel’s On Demand program to launch its new Play station 3 consoles.

This will be a first for advertising as it is the only channel with one advertiser and one product. However this will not be the last as Foxtel is already in negotiations with other companies to advertise in this unique way.

Foxtel’s CEO Anthony Fitzgerald believes that this type of advertising will become more popular over time as foxtel market shares increase over free to air TV, therefore capturing more of TV’s $3.5b advertising revenue.

Fitzgerald says that pay TV has 21% of combined all people audience and households with pay TV there is a 59% audience (statistics from first 10 weeks of the year) .

However according to Media analyst Steve Allen, pay TV only has total audience of 16% for the year, regardless what which angle Mr Fitzgerald looks at the stats. Whilst according to Mediaedge:cia GM Adrian Smith pay TV advertising has lag behind free to air for the last 10 years.

From Fitzgerald view pay TV revenue has increase over the year by 32% and although this year has been lower at only 6%. Fitzgerald is still optimistic with the launch of MCN’s red button campaign in conjunction with on demand they will win more of the advertising revenue pool, a view that Allen’s does not share.

FAIRFAX MEDIA GROUP IS DEVELOPING A BUSINESS WEBSITE

Links

Fairfax Digital Media group has step into a new phase of Internet news coverage by launching its free access business, sport and technology sites. Ironically this will not only be in competition with other news group but its over paid sites.

In Feb07, online news group Ninemsn drop 8% while the overall market dropped by 1.6%. However according to Fair Digital Media boss Jack Matthews, the new Internet strategy is going to be a money maker despite market trends.

The reason for this as Matthews explain is the local approach (target market), like paper and TV news the site will concentrate on local news and what’s happening nationally vs. international which competes with more site.

Hence Mathews is suggesting that Fairfax is expanding the market (which Ninemsn has grown over the year) and not competing at other companies’ expense. At current the strategy seems to be success with 50,000 users in the first two days.

Blogging is a new way to communicate these day. You can "set up" a blog account through Xanga, Yahoo!360, Blogger and Myspace by yourself then you begin to become a blogger.

How many type of blogs?

In my point of view there are personal blog, business blog, media blog and knowledge blog.

personal blog

And i think personal blog is the most popular because it's freedom. Personal blog allow you express yourself freely to the public and your friends in a virtual community without worry about facial expression or body language. Personal blog creates a new playground for everyone to discuss, exchange and comment on all information, issues nationally and internationally.

SOMETHING aBouT-mE

HI EVERYONE !^^

My full name is Hong Anh Mai. Now i'm studying in SAIBT at UniSa, major in Media & Communication. I also have part-time job but I just do in my holidays cause my main occupation is a student. In free-time, i love to go to the beach - that's a good place to relax with the feel of sun, the relaxing sounds and smell of the beach. Besides this, i like listening to music, hanging out with friends. This is the first time i study in Australia after 18 years living in my country - Viet Nam, so my main obstacle is English. I know that i have to try so much to succeed in this semester and for the whole year as well. Time is passing so fast - you have so many things to do now and also in the future, so don't worry too much, just try it hard, do it by all your heart - successfull will come to you.
INTRODUCTION
I create this blog for my Document Design & Publicaton (DDP) course in this semester. Actually this is not my first weblog because i have already created another blogs (Yahoo360 and Xanga) before. However my previous blogs are just my thoughts, feeling and individual emotion about what had happened and is happening in my life. Furthermore I sometimes post my favourite songs or lyrics on my blogs. And I think two previous blogs are more individual and subjectively. Converesly this weblog will more serious, include objective and subjective contents participate in Media issues. This weblog also will be my final assignment due to week 12. I hope everything will be satisfactory in the future....
